RTS and its partners help families work with government agencies in planning and resolving conflicts over services for people with special needs or stressful circumstances. This may involve multiple participants and complex issues. RTS's expertise facilitation, mediation, restorative practices and other collaborative processes offer quick and inexpensive ways to resolve issues and avoid costly litigation.
Parents and schools share responsibility for educating students with disabilities. Special Education Mediation Services, an RTS project, helps them resolve issues and speed delivery of services that support success in school. The project is funded by the Michigan Department of Education Office of Special Education.
When farmers in Michigan and Florida have trouble paying debts, encounter regulatory issues or even have a tiff with neighbors over their farming operations, RTS's agricultural mediation programs provide a collaborative option for working toward resolution. The programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
